Heritage Sensitive Solar PV and Tesla Powerwall Installation in Swansea: A Case Study

This project was located in a conservation area with traditional decades old rosemary tiles, which meant we had to carefully consider where solar panels could be installed. Planning regulations limited us to the East aspect of the property, avoiding the frontage entirely. Despite these restrictions, we were able to design a system that maximises energy production without impacting the property’s aesthetics.

Optimised Solar PV Installation

The system features a 5.86kWp Solar PV array, optimised around the chimney to minimise shading and optimise output. Future expansion was also considered: the client has submitted an application for a further south-facing string, and we have pre-installed wiring in the loft and at the inverter to make this addition straightforward if approved.

Seamless Energy Storage with Tesla Powerwall

Energy storage is key to energy independence. For this project, we installed a Tesla Powerwall 3 (13.5kWh), mounted outside thanks to its IP65 rating.
